Love this drink!! Wanted to have something warm besides tea, but without caffeine and this hit the spot! Hubby loves it too!
Okay so maybe it sounds a little unusual, but please let me convince you: this cashew golden milk latte is a day-making treat.
A golden milk latte is a milky beverage that is packed with turmeric, ginger, and other spices. It is smooth and luscious and creamy, extremely fragrant, fantastically healthy, and rich and filling (thanks, cashews!). It is delicious served hot or cold, but even in the winter I am a big fan of pouring this over ice and sipping it through a cute reusable straw.
Golden milk lattes became a trend in 2016-ish and has a ton – like, really, a TON – of health benefits. You can read more about the origins and history of it here.
While you can use any kind of store-bought plant-based or regular milk to make a golden milk latte, why would you not want to make a fresh, smooth, creamy cashew milk to work all that turmeric-y goodness into? And you know how we feel about cozy cashew lattes in general.
This is my favorite way. It is really just so yummy – it can be a morning boost, a mid-day pick-me-up, or an evening wind-down treat, and every time it is so super good.
It is rich in flavor, texture, and good-for-the-body ingredients. It tastes like a dream come true. Cashew Golden Milk Lattes, man. This is where it’s at.
NOTE: Because the base of this is a homemade blended nut milk, there will be separation. That is normal and natural! Nothing is wrong with it, just give it a shake to re-incorporate.

Cashew Golden Milk Lattes
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 4-6 1x
Description
Cashew Golden Milk Latte! Packed with turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, honey, and a TON of good-for-the-body benefits. Just blend and pour!
Ingredients
- 1 cup cashews (roasted or raw, unsoaked – straight out of the package)
- 6 cups water
- 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 2-inch knob fresh peeled ginger, or 2 tablespoons ginger paste
- 1/4 cup honey
- generous pinch of salt
Instructions
- Blend the cashews and the water in a high-powered blender until very smooth (at least 1-2 minutes).
- Blend in the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, honey, and salt. Taste and adjust.
- Serve warm or cold! Voila! So luscious, creamy, and delicious.
Notes
The golden milk lattes will separate – that is to be expected – so just keep em in jars with lids so you can give it a good shake up before drinking. These keep in the fridge for about 5 days.
Single Serving Version: Blend up the following – 1.5 cups of water, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, small slice of fresh ginger, 1 tablespoon honey, tiny pinch of salt, 1/4 cup cashews.
Personally I prefer these cold, straight out of the fridge! When you heat this mixture, it will thicken. So if you want it hot, my recommendation would be to just make it single-serving and use with hot water (kind of like the cashew coffee) so you don’t have to do any reheating.
Many blenders don’t have the capacity for 6 cups of liquid, so usually I blend everything up with half of the water and then just do a quick blitz with the remaining water once everything is well-combined. If you don’t have a high-powered blender, I recommend running the liquid through a nut milk bag or similar to filter out any chunks that get left behind.
Naturally there will be some “grit” in the bottom of the mug or glass. No big deal. It’s just cinnamon and ginger remnants. 🙂

I’ve been hoping for a turmeric drink recipe that doesn’t taste terrible, so I’m definitely going to try this!
This is amazing! I feel the benefits of these spices everytime I make this recipe. It’s so easy yet feels so decadent.
This looks amazing! I’m totally going to need to try this soon!

YES! You need this, Paige! So yummy!
Any recommendations for a high powered blender?
We like using either a Vitamix or a Blendtec! (affiliate links)
I read that black pepper should be consumed with turmeric so that it is able to be absorbed by your body. Is this true?
Yes, add a pinch of black pepper for maximal absorption.
How much ground ginger would you recommend if I don’t have fresh or paste?
thanks.
We’d suggest starting with 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger and just adjusting from there based on how gingery you’d like it to be. Enjoy, Jodee!
Yum I make something quite similar and I just bought too large a jug of raw cashews from Costco so a good way to use those. Also nice while pregnant too.
Perfect use for all those cashews, Becky! Enjoy!
Just made the single-serving for an afternoon treat – it was delicious! Thanks for this recipe!
Glad to hear you enjoyed this latte, Deretta!
In India we make something very similar but with milk. As always beautiful pics.
Sounds yummy!
Think I could just make this with the pre-made carton of cashew milk?
We haven’t tested it out using a carton of cashew milk yet, but it should work just fine. You can keep out the cashews and water in that case. Enjoy, Dawn!
Love this drink!! Wanted to have something warm besides tea, but without caffeine and this hit the spot! Hubby loves it too!
Glad to hear you and your husband have been enjoying this!
Looks great! Can I substitute the turmeric with a little saffron or other alternative? I would love to use turmeric, but my tummy doesn’t really agree with me.
Hi there, Jennifer! We haven’t tested out another spice here instead, so it’s hard for us to say how it’ll turn out. Let us know how it goes if you end up giving it a shot!
Looks delicious! Do you think it would work with oats?
We haven’t tried this with oats yet, but homemade oat milk but give this a gummy texture. You could this with store bought oat milk and that might work here.
Wondering if this could be made with maple syrup instead of honey. This would make it more glycemic friendly for diabetics. Maple syrup doesn’t raises your blood sugar at a lower rate than honey. With the cashews being high in carbs also I thought changing the sugar would help some.
I loved this recipe! My ten year old daughter thought the foam on top was cool but preferred hers strained
This is a fabulous latte. We absolutely love it. Hope it keeps colds away. Thank you!
Glad you’ve been enjoying this, Kathryn!
Would this work with almonds instead of cashews?
We probably wouldn’t recommend it – it won’t give the same creamy texture you want here.
I lobve this. Certainly it will be good to try it out.
This recipe is really superb. Definitely will try it out.
This is really great recipe
Hi, in the ingredients it says a 12-inch knob of ginger. That seems like an awful lot. Did you mean 1-2″ knob of ginger?
Sorry for the confusion, Kathryn. You should use 1 two-inch piece of ginger!
Love your recipe. I originally printed it but went looking for it again just so I don’t have to dig it out.
I added black pepper just to up the benefits of the turmeric for absorption in order to help boost my immune system, you really don’t taste it. I have also switched out the cinnamon with cardamom sometimes to help with stomach issues although I know that’s what the ginger also does. I get a similar drink at a restaurant near me and tastes almost the exact same as your recipe but they use the cardamom instead.
Thank you 🙂
You’re welcome, Robin! So glad you enjoyed the latte!
Hi Lindsay! Say, I have golden milk tea from Harney & Sons. Could I use that with the honey and the salt? Same amount of water? Thanks for any guidance.
Hi Cat! Great question. I checked out the tea on the Harney & Sons website. It looks like you could add a couple tablespoons of the powder in place of the turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger in this recipe, and just blend it all together with the water, cashews, honey, and salt. I believe you’d still be missing the creamy element of the latte if you left out the cashews.
love this!! I’ve made this 4 times in a week now. Even gifted some to a friend, who also loved it. For the honey, I used half regular honey and half hot (chili-infused) honey. So good!
For the first batch, I also added vanilla protein powder because this was going to be my lunch. Yum!
After reading comments, I guess I’ll have to make some more and add black pepper.
Did you mean to list a 2 inch knob of garlic rather than 12 inch knob?
Yes, 1 knob that is 2 inches!
So yummy! For dinner
Tried this out and it was great i must say Lindsay you are the best
