Voila!
And just like that, there is homemade jam in my refrigerator.
Happy times, happy times!
I have a thing about berries in the summer, which is that a) it’s awesome to have them, and b) it’s so awesome to have them that it’s almost just too hard to use them in desserts, sauces, jams, anything that will leave me with an empty berry container in my fridge and a sad heart in the morning at breakfast.
My issue is that I love them so much that I want to eat the berries like berries, and I am not one of these insanely lucky people who has “so many raspberries” coming out of their garden that they just have to make them into jam (what is that like? is it heaven?) – yeah, no, that’s not me. This is why I buy berries in large quantities at Costco and then protect them with my life so they may only be eaten as berries. That’s why I use frozen berries at a time such as this.
Okay, this jam, though. And the berries.
Let’s go into list mode to address the reasons why I love it so much.
- It is the perfect occasion for FROZEN berries. I don’t need to sacrifice my precious regular berries for jam – I will save those for my morning breakfast bowls and sacrifice the lowly frozen berries for the jam, and no one will be the wiser. This is the time for the frozen berries to shine.
- It is fast. And there’s no heat. You literally just smoosh everything together in the blender and refrigerate till thickened.
- It is refined sugar free! Praise be. I really, really love peanut butter toast, and I really love yogurt + fruit, and these things just aren’t the same with a shmear of jam on top, but now that we’re doing the refined sugar free experiment (60 days! bring it) I’ve been really dying for something that would speak to my heart the way regular jam does. Hello, triple berry refrigerator jam!
- Yet another awesome use for Bai5 – we always have at least a half a bottle of this stuff in our fridge because we are constantly drinking some throughout the day and saving the rest for later – so this recipe just uses up the “saving the rest for later” portion to add antioxidant wonderfulness, natural sweetness, and beautiful color and flavor to our jammy jam. Ugh. Just really good vibes with this stuff.
You will adore the easiness of this recipe.
If you’re trying to cut back on refined sugar, we can call this a win, I think.
If you’re just generally feeling good about the berry-ness of summer, I’m right there with you.

Thanks to Bai5 for sponsoring today’s post!
This would’ve paired well with my plantain honey oat muffins I scarfed down this a.m. Yummers!
Yum! those muffins sound amazing, Tonya!
I’m loving this jam! I’ve been making a quick jam lately with mixed fruit but I haven’t used chia seeds yet. I need to get on that!
Yes! do it! 😀
LOVE chia jam! I like making chia parfaits with this stuff! I love that you added Bai, too. You’ve talked about it a couple times, and I can’t wait to give it a try!
I know -we are really excited to have an ongoing partnership with them this year. I was hesitant at first, but once we actually tried the products I was completely sold on it. We buy it every week at Target now! 🙂
WHAT?! Bai5 in JAM and made in the refrigerator? I AM OBSESSING SO HARDCORE RIGHT NOW.
I have never made my own Jam, because I always left that to my Grandma, but that is changing STAT. Pinned!
Thanks Taylor! 🙂
Oh my gosh I LOVE Bai5!! I never though to put it in a jam – so brilliant!
Awesome! I hope you like it Meghan!
This. is. purdy!
Thanks Nicole!
YESSSSSS. My husband is crazy particular when it comes to his jam – it MUST be refined sugar free and as close to “just berries” as possible so I’m LOVING how healthy + simple this is! I’ve been wanting to try chai seed jam for a while now, and think I may have to make it happen this weekend. Lindsay, you da woman.
hahah – you’re sweet! Thanks Leah – hope you and your husband like it!
What a stunning color!!
Thanks Hillary! <3
This is such a fabulous idea! I love how little sugar you used. I’m the same with fresh vs. frozen berries. I like to eat fresh berries ceremoniously and enjoy them with gusto, whereas frozen berries I feel no guilt in blending, jamming, baking, and the like. A fresh, in season berry is one of life’s greatest gifts! Great recipe, I’m so jazzed to try this out!
Yep! You get me. 🙂 Berries are like pure gold – we appreciate them even more now after living in the tropics for a year, where it was really hard to find fresh berries that didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Blueberries are quite expensive so I guard them with my life (okay not really but I’m very protective). I don’t trust putting them in the hall pantry in my dorm 😛 I love that you used chia seeds! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
How I feel exactly!
OKAY, like usual, your photos have me drooling!!! I am curious, like for this post, did you use your 100mm the whole time or switch lenses during? Also, love your plates! Where did you get them? 🙂
Thank you Hilary! I did use the 100mm the whole time – and the plate at the end with the peanut butter toast is from Restoration Hardware (um, splurge) and the little bowls in the first picture are from Crate and Barrel.
Yum! I have been making strawberry chia seed jam (http://www.homeecathome.com/the-home-economist/strawberry-chia-seed-jam) which is super easy and delicious, but I think our strawberry patch is done producing for the year. I have thought of using other berries, but haven’t yet. I have had to freeze blueberries and raspberries because we have so many right now. I love that you don’t even cook it. I cooked my strawberry jam to get it to macerate.
Yep! Just kept this one as is, no heating (although I’ve done the heating before too – both are good). 🙂 This is the easiest thing ever tho!
Chia jam is the best! Loving this version with Bai5!
Thanks Shashi! 🙂
I am so excited to try this!! After being horrified at how much sugar is used for most jams, this is perfect!!!
Thanks Marcia! hope you like it!
Fab, just totally fab!
Thanks Linda!
Loved reading this! I feel exactly the same way about berries! They are nature’s candy and I always eat them all even when I buy them for pies or jams. Frozen berries are a great idea!
Yep – exactly! I’m so much more okay sacrificing my frozen berries for something like this. 🙂
I love the use of chia seeds here, they are so healthy to eat. It’s great to see a jam recipe that’s different from traditional jams and it looks so tasty!
Thanks Sara! Appreciate that!
I always see recipes for jams using chia seeds but still haven’t made the time to make it! I think it’s time. I have a jar of chia seeds on my counter calling my name…… lol
They are definitely calling!!
Wow, so simple! Looks amazing. I’ve been meaning to make chia fruit jam forever, but have not come across a refrigerator version. Awesome!
Thanks Ashley! Appreciate that! Hope you like it.
Loving the simplicity of this jam recipe! And the convenience of frozen fruit. My husband’s family has some wonderful jam-makers and I’ve always been a little intimidated by their pectin and warm water baths, but this seems like a jam I can handle 🙂
Eesh, that stuff sounds scary to me – I will leave that to my mom! 🙂 She’s a good jam-maker! and… I’m a good refrigerator jam maker 🙂 so easy. Hope you like it!
This seriously looks amazing! I have tried twice to make jam with chia seeds, but I wasn’t thrilled about the results (I totally guessed at the fruit-to-chia-to-liquid ratio, plus it was on a stovetop). I’m going to try this out asap. Also, foods that make themselves in the fridge rock. Thank you!
Yes! I hope you like it Tera! It took me a few tries to get the ratio just right but this worked well for me!
You’re ruining your blog with all of these sponsored posts. 🙁 Disappointing.
Hi, Sarah! We generally do 2-3 sponsored posts per month, and we only feature products we’ve used and loved. For us, those products enhance the recipes in the post. We hope the same can be true for you!
Wow. This is freaking awesome. I could use this jam on my toast. Or muffins. Or pancakes. Or just on a spoon. Yum.
Enjoy, Joshua! 🙂
Juice in jam? What a novel idea!
I absolutely love Bai5, We drink them on a daily basis, in fact, 😉 I love how you’ve taken all of the pain out of making jam, by creating this super easy refrigerator spread. Great recipe :D!

Hope you enjoy it, Kennedy! 🙂
what is Bai5, and where can I purchase it? I live in Santa Fe, N.M.. it is a small city of 90,000. I cannot not find it in the groceries. Here. Do I have to go to big bad Amazon to find it? Thanks! Del W.?
Yes, you’ll most likely have to buy it on Amazon if you’ve been unable to find it at your grocery store. Here’s the link to their website if you’d like more information on their products: https://www.drinkbai.com/products
how long in the fridge , and how long in the freezer? Del W. Thanks for your response.
I’d guess the jam would keep for a couple weeks in the refrigerator and a few months in the freezer.
